Who Was Overlooked Part 2

I was thinking about the nominations more and I have more names to add to the Who Was Overlook part of my blog, "The TV Fiend predicts the Oscars."

Keri Russell put on a fine performance as a pie maker in a horrible marriage in "Waitress" and would have made a fine Best Actress nominee. I would also have liked to have seen the late Adrienne Shelley, who wrote and director the movie, to have been nominated for Best Original Screenplay.

Christian Bale and Steve Zahn both starved themselves for roles as Vietnam POWs for the film "Rescue Dawn". This is the second time Bale has starved himself for a role and I think having such an emaciated figure for a role is worth a Best Actor nomination.

I thought "August Rush" had a beautiful score, although I'm not sure if it's completely original.

I'm bound to come up with more snubs or roles that I think are Oscar-worthy. Have any ideas of your own?

The best time I had in a theater last year was at GRINDHOUSE, but I wouldn't expect it to win any award. It spoke very specifically to a very appreciative audience, while the majority ignored it on opening weekend to see BLADES OF GLORY or just didn't get it. Since, its two features have been separated, taking away some of its special - some might say twisted - charm, robbing anyone interested of the opportunity to catch up with it.

Back in more accessible territory, I thought ZODIAC was one of the best movies of the year, and should have been recognized in some way.

Well, maybe there'll be some justice at the MTV Movie Awards.

Denzel Washington was superb in "American Gangster," a great movie. His seemingly bi-polar portrayal of a maniac mobster and a family man was great.

Seriously, Keri Russell??? I don't know. The commercials were too much for me and though I heard the movie "Waitress" was ok, I wasn't about to spend my cash to see it. Maybe I'll add it to my Netflix cue, someday...
