Peer Jury Hands Scales of Justice to Youth; Marks 10th Anniversary since Program Founding

Peer Jury, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, has helped guide area youth by providing juvenile offenders with a meaningful and remedial alternative program to juvenile court since it was started in 1998.
“By all accounts it has been one of the more successful programs that New Trier Township has offered to its residents,” said Patricia B. Cantor, New Trier Township Supervisor. Since the program inception, Peer Jury has heard over 430 cases resulting in more than 13,000 hours of community service. Cantor noted that better than 95% of the offenders in the program complete their sentence and avoid the consequences of a juvenile record.
