Students at their first fencing class probably didn’t anticipate that they would be sparring with one another before nights end, but after being shown a few of the basics, the young students were given swords and tossed into the ring.

Blair Park Pool in Lake Bluff officially opened for the summer season June 9, but wet weather kept swimmers away until the following day, when families arrived in large numbers to get a taste of summer splash time fun.

With paddles and canoes strapped to the tops of their cars, people from all over the country and all corners of Illinois headed to the Oak Spring Road Canoe Launch in Libertyville, Ill. for the 51st Annual Des Plaines River Canoe Marathon.

On 2/10/08 the Lake Forest Police Department hosted their 8th annual baseball clinic at the Walter Payton Center, Halas Hall, Headquarters of the Chicago Bears. The clinic was free to kids between 3rd-8th grades living in the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff communities. Over 200 kids attended and over 70 volunteers from the community came out to help. Most of the volunteers were from the LFHS Boys Baseball Teams including thier coaches. A special guest instructor came out to coach at the pitching station, Tommy John III of Tommy John Baseball Performance and Synergy Sports and Fitness in Lake Forest.

There's a lot going on at a high school football game, as shown in this gallery of photos from the Oct. 19 match pitting Libertyville High School Wildcats against Lake Forest High School Scouts. Fireworks, brats, marching bands and library books were all part of the evening's experience.
