Dozens of kites were taken up into the air by the wind Aug. 9 at the Chicago Botanic Garden two day Kite Festival.

August 6 marked the 100th year that Lake Forest Day has been celebrated, and residents of the city and friends from neighboring communities turned out in droves for the festivities.

The barns are full, the food is cooking, the midway lights are flashing and the gates to the 2008 Lake County Fair are open.

The Illinois Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Rotary Club welcomed antique car owners and lovers alike to the 60th annual Lake Forest Antique Auto Show.

Lake Forest workers in the parks and recreation, sanitation, fire and police departments use a variety of large and unusual vehicles on a regular basis, but once a year local kids get a chance to be behind the wheels of these rigs.
