Grayslake Central High School students gathered at the Grayslake Public Works garage on Oct. 2 to decorate homecoming floats. The Las Vegas-themed floats will be shown at the annual homecoming parade, which takes place at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 in downtown Grayslake.

Sherwood School students in Highland Park were entertained Sept. 22 by Inspector Iwannano. The program reinforced the six pillars of the school’s Character Counts program: respect, trustworthiness, caring, responsibility, fairness and good citizenship.

Grayslake North High School students and faculty flocked to the gymnasium for the homecoming pep rally Sept. 26. With this year's theme as "Masquerade," there were plenty of masks and beads to go around as the students filled the bleachers cheering on their football players, cheerleaders and homecoming court.

More than 85 area golfers hit the links at Steeple Chase Golf Club in Mundelein Sept. 25 in support of the Green Oaks – Libertyville – Mundelein – Vernon Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Kokyo Taiko Drum Troupe from the Buddhist Temple of Chicago performed for hundreds at the Chicago Botanic Garden Aug. 17 as part of the Malott Japanese Garden Summer Festival.
