Riding ponies, petting bunnies and playing in a bouncy castle, kids were able run from one activity to the next and play to their heart's content at the Glenview United Methodist Church Family Fun Fair Sept. 7.

Sailboats race across the water as their crew mans the sails from shore. More than 10 model sailboats, controlled by the Chicago Radio Controlled Sailing Club, skimmed through the lake at the Chicago Botanic Garden Sept. 7 for Model Sailboat Sunday hosted by the garden.

Launching from the Tower Road dock, 11 participants strapped on their life vests and began exploring the Skokie Lagoons by kayak.

The threat of foul weather moved the event from the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden indoors to Nichols Hall, but the final "Grapes & Hops" gathering of 2008 drew more than 200 guests to the Chicago Botanic Garden to sample a variety of wines and beers.

A team of four volunteers gathered behind Congressman Mark Kirk's Northbrook Office at 707 Skokie Blvd. Sept. 3 to load donations for Hurricane Gustav and Tropical Storm Ike victims into a moving van.

Eating sandwiches, listening to stories and making crafts, 28 kindergarteners stopped by the Glencoe Public Library Aug. 27 for a school year kick-off.
