On Saturday, April 19, one of the region’s foremost authorities on traditional East Indian medicine will be bringing ancient wisdom to modern minds during a four-hour Ayurveda seminar in Oak Park.

JoAnne Pavin, owner of Barrington-based Soulutions to Health, will be including insights she has learned on a pair of trips to India.

Pavin’s session, “Spring Into Better Health With Ayurveda,” is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Relaxation Plantation, Suite 706 of 715 Lake St., also known as the Medical Arts building. Tyler Wellness is hosting the event, as principals Michelle Donat and Catherine Boskovic will also provide instruction on massage and yoga within an Ayurvedic context.

Pavin is one of the most highly regarded Ayurvedic instructors in the region, said Donat.

“She led a seminar for us a few months ago, and she was phenomenal,” said Donat. “Anyone seeking better health—whether it’s physical, emotional or mental—walks away so much better for having been guided by JoAnne.”

A prior workshop attendee, Wendy Marshall, echoed those sentiments. “The workshop left me wanting to learn more about Ayurveda,” Marshall said. “Tyler Wellness does a wonderful job encouraging and supporting my own personal growth.”

Ayurveda means the science of life—ayu is ‘life’ and veda is 'science'. At the April 19 session, attendees will discover simple techniques to rid their body of harmful toxins, how to practice the Ayurvedic daily massage to help detoxify, and learn about the power of cleansing through yoga.

According to Pavin, it is a powerful natural healing system for body, mind and spirit and parallels the yoga tradition.

Through her teachings, Pavin has helped people gain energy, lose weight, develop a far greater harmony with their surroundings, and generally become more focused and productive.

She is an Illinois Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, a Registered Yoga Instructor, and an Ayurveda Lifestyle Educator. Pavin’s website is www.soulutionstohealth.com

The admission fee for “Spring Into Better Health With Ayurveda” is $50 and includes a light snack.
